At Turners Hill CofE Primary School, we want to prepare all of our children to have the ability to contribute positively to our rapidly changing and increasing digital world. By highlighting and exposing children to the breadth of technology around them, we aim for them to understand how it has shaped the modern world. Through a range of topics, we begin to inspire children to imagine what they could do in the future. Our school follows the programmes of study from the 2014 National Curriculum and our engaging curriculum uses this to specify what to teach in each Key Stage. From this, we use Milestones (Chris Quigley) to track progression from Early Years, to Key Stage 2. Our topics and other subjects such as PSHE provide meaningful and relevant contexts in which they can make regular application of technology.
It is our intent for all children at Turners Hill CofE Primary School to achieve personal success in using a range of technology confidently, competently and safely. In order to achieve this, they will have:
- Competence in coding for a variety of practical and inventive purposes, including the application of ideas within other subjects.
- The ability to connect with others safely and respectfully, understanding the need to act within the law and with moral and ethical integrity.
- An understanding of the connected nature of devices.
- The ability to communicate ideas well by using applications and devices throughout the curriculum.
- The ability to collect, organise and manipulate data effectively.
